Please contact your state representative and state senator via email or phone using the suggested script below and ask them to urgently support the passage of the following provisions within the Protecting MA Communities Campaign. Find your legislators here.

We see our neighbors, friends and relatives being kidnapped and detained by ICE. As a member of the League of Women Voters, I ask you to urge your colleagues to advance the following provisions that cross three bills of the Protecting MA Communities Campaign:

• Ban 287(g) agreements
• Prevent partnerships between local law enforcement and ICE
• Prohibit police from asking about immigration status

The League supports due process for all persons, including the right to a fair hearing, the right to counsel, the right of appeal, and the right to humane treatment and that no person or group should suffer legal discrimination. The League believes that immigration policies need to be responsive to those facing political persecution or humanitarian crises. We thank you for taking this important step forward to protect our communities.
