In Memoriam: Carolyn Lee
Please join the Legislative Action Committee (LAC) and LWV Sudbury in offering our condolences to Carolyn Lee’s family on her passing. Read Carolyn’s obituary here. Carolyn, a dedicated advocate for more than a decade, served on the PFAS omnibus coalition steering committee and the Alliance for Healthy Tomorrow. She briefed LWVMA members on the dangers of PFAS during the League Leader Lunch and the Day on the Hill lobby day, both in Fall of 2023. Governor Healey recently signed S2902, An Act relative to the reduction of certain toxic chemicals in firefighter personal protective equipment, banning the manufacture, sale, and distribution of PFAS-containing personal protective equipment for firefighters as of January 1, 2027, for which Carolyn advocated since 2019. Laura Spark of Clean Water Action lauded Carolyn during the signing ceremony, “A big shout out to Carolyn Lee—without whom we would not have had so many legislators united in their commitment for action on PFAS.” Carolyn’s knowledge of the history, science, and public health threat of toxic chemicals and PFAS was second to none. She will be sorely missed.
