On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts took a historic stand against the federal administration’s Congressional address and rallied nearly 100 people on the steps of the State House. Senator Becca Rausch, LWVMA Co-President Courtney Rau Rogers, LWVMA Executive Director Celia Canavan, and Legislative Action Committee Chair Jen Muroff rallied attendees around the need to have hope for our democracy and the need to protect our federal institutions from authoritarianism. We thank the LWVMA Board members in attendance, our partners at Common Cause Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Women’s History Center, the Massachusetts Public Health Association, and the local Leagues who came out in numbers to support the Light for Our Democracy event.
Additionally, LWV Amherst, LWV Brookline, LWV Falmouth, LWV Marblehead, LWV Newton, LWV Worcester, and LWV Wellesley organized in their own communities.
