The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and Generation Citizen are once again collaborating to host four Statewide Civics Project Showcases across the Commonwealth in 2026:
- May 26 at MassMutual Center in Springfield
- May 29 at UMass Dartmouth
- June 1 at DCU Center in Worcester
- June 5 at Edward M. Kennedy Institute in Boston
Building on the success of last year’s showcases, these events will once again feature a dynamic “science fair-style” presentation format for 8th-12th grade students to promote deeper learning and provide real-world, authentic learning experiences.
We need you and your expertise as a community leader in the state, and we are hoping you will join us next spring and serve as a Community Advisor. At each Showcase, volunteer Community Advisors have short conversations with students about their projects, asking questions and offering feedback based on their own expertise. Given the wide range in project topics, Advisors come from a diversity of backgrounds: community organizers, legislators, business and non-profit leaders, educators, healthcare workers, and more.
