“On average, a citizen has 6.2 decades as a voter. The democratic process is a long-distance run, it is not a sprint nor a spectator sport. The right to vote should be exercised regularly throughout one’s lifetime. Please support the LWV Lotte Scharfman civic education fund to support student-run civics education and voter engagement.”

As important as anti-war protests were, during my younger years, that need pales in comparison with the current threat to our Democracy. Therefore, I have made a firm commitment to use the resources available to me for protecting Democracy. The best way to do this is through supporting the League of Women Voters, at all levels.

That’s why I care about promoting youth civics and why I support the League’s mission to educate, empower, and register voters of all ages.
When I run, I’m running for every young person who wonders if their voice matters, because it does. And voting is a right, it’s a responsibility, and we should all take it seriously.”

“I am running on Team LWVMA@105 in the 49th annual Boston 10K for Women in order to support of the invaluable League of Women Voters of Massachusetts. I believe in the power of informed and active participation in our democracy and what organization better exemplifies this than LWVMA! The League deserves our support as it works tirelessly to ensure fair elections, expand voter access, and provide nonpartisan education on critical issues affecting our communities. By running this race, l’m not only celebrating women’s strength and resilience but also helping to amplify the important mission of the League.”

California Underground: Fresh Ingredients, Coastal Vibes
Just steps from Nantasket Beach, California Underground has been serving award-winning tacos, burritos, margaritas and craft cocktails since 1996. Known for its bold flavors with fresh ingredients, relaxed coastal vibe, and friendly service, it has become a year-round favorite for both locals and visitors.
The idea began simply — with a batch of homemade tacos at the Martin household. Husband Eo Martin often cooked for family and friends, and one night, after tasting his latest creation, his wife Ozzy Martin joked, “These are so good, we should open a taco place.” That bit of wishful thinking became a real opportunity when the historic Anastos Corner property became available. The Martins, who live locally in Hull, purchased the space and transformed it with extensive renovations.
Today, California Underground stands as a women-owned, woman-run business, offering a fresh, modern take on casual coastal dining. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick bite or settling in for a night of cocktails with friends, this neighborhood staple delivers a standout experience — every time.
And soon, there’s even more to enjoy — the team is expanding into breakfast, bringing their signature creativity and focus on fresh ingredients to morning favorites, all served with a California twist.
