Update on Same-Day Voter Registration

LWVMA and the Election Modernization Coalition are continuing to focus on passing legislation to allow same-day voter registration (SDR) in Massachusetts. We will be testifying at a Joint Committee on Election Laws hearing on the bill, H.834/S.505, expected to be held September 16, and will be focussing on that bill at Day on the Hill September 18 as well. We’d like to have SDR in place for the November 2026 election rather than voting on it. We hope Secretary Galvin’s ballot question petition on Election Day registration will give our legislative efforts a boost. We look forward to learning more about his plans for a ballot question campaign.
