Karen Callanan

Karen Callanan lives in Nahant and has been a LWVMA Member at Large since 2017. She served two years on the LWVMA Ballot Question Study Committee, and this past year has been a member of the LWVMA Membership, DEI Steering, and the Scharfman Grant Review Committees. Karen has over two decades of experience providing legal, strategic, technical, and operational leadership for insurance and nonprofit companies in the areas of corporate governance and professional liability and has developed operating standards to insure consistency of business processes. She served as an elected Member of the Professional Liability Insurance Industry Trade Association and chaired its National Education Committee. Karen has volunteered with Girls Inc. Lynn as a Board member and Chair of its Finance Committee, the Nahant Conservation Committee, and The First Tee of Massachusetts – an organization serving youth that develops life skills through the game of golf. Karen earned a JD at Western New England College School of Law, Springfield, MA and a B.A. in Education from the State University of New York College at Buffalo, NY.
