LWVMA Stands with AAPI Communities Across the Country

The League of Women Voters of Massachusetts stands with AAPI communities in Georgia and across the country as they mourn the loss of friends and family members who were violently attacked. There is no place for violence, racism, xenophobia, or misogyny in our society. We are disheartened by these attacks and will continue to advocate for state and local legislation and policies that support civil rights protections for every citizen in the Commonwealth.

We echo the joint statement of the League of Women Voters of the United States and the League of Women Voters of Georgia:

We are committed to listening to and amplifying AAPI voices and educating ourselves on the historic and ongoing systemic racism that plagues this country so that we can be better allies. We urge our followers to do the same, and to call on elected and appointed officials at all levels of government to demonstrate their commitment to keeping ALL communities safe. There can be no liberty in the face of racist and xenophobic violence.

These acts of violence against the AAPI community must stop!
