Marlene O’Brien has held leadership positions at each level of the League. She has served as a director of LWVUS, where she sat on the Advocacy, Membership and Development Committees, and also chaired the Bylaws Committee. As an LWVMA board member, Marlene has served as director; vice president; chair of Governance, Bylaws, and Nominating Committees; and member of the Board Operations Committee. She has also served as president of LWV of Wellesley and as the chair of that League’s Bylaws and Nominating Committees. Marlene has also been a trustee of the League of Women Voters Education Fund.
Marlene is an attorney with private-sector experience in nonprofit, tax and corporate law. She has also practiced in the public sector, serving as senior assistant comptroller under New York City Comptroller Liz Holtzman and as deputy general counsel, children’s services, under New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
Marlene holds a B.A. from Harvard-Radcliffe and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
