Sign Up for Election Protection

As the general election season approaches, it is important to remember the League of Women Voters has spent the last 106 years as the ultimate election experts in 155 communities across the Commonwealth. With 2.6 million voters served by a local League in 2025, our commitment to displaying courage, trust in our elections, and a commitment to protecting the vote for all Bay Staters is pivotal – which is why we need you to serve as an Election Protection worker!

The League is a long standing member of the Election Protection (“EP”) Coalition in Massachusetts.  With less than 35 days until the midterm election, we are actively seeking volunteers to join the Massachusetts EP to serve as nonpartisan poll monitors on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3. Poll monitors are stationed at various polling locations throughout MA for three-hour shifts. Their role is to answer questions from voters about issues they may encounter while voting as well as observing what is taking place at the polls and report issues as discussed in the training.

What do I need to do if I want to help?

  1. Sign up for Election Protection through LWVMA’s unique link HERE.
  2. Attend a 90 minute training via Zoom led by LWV members Lucy Costa and Elizabeth Foster-Nolan on one of the following days:
    1. Thursday October 8 at 7:00 PM
    2. Tuesday October 13 at 7:00 PM
    3. Sunday October 18 at 3:00 PM
    4. If these dates don’t work for you there will be additional training that you can attend. (You will see these additional dates after you register.)
  3. Take a quiz after the training to confirm you understand the key points from the training.
  4. Sign up for one or more 3-hour shifts at one of the polls listed on the Poll deployment spreadsheet. You can sign up with friends to go to the same poll at the same time.

Throughout your time at the polls you will have ongoing support from the EP Coalition leadership team. Sign up HERE. We hope to see you at an October training.
