Jess Vocaturo (she/her) is serving her first term as a director of the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts. Jess joined the LWVMA as a member-at-large when she moved to Massachusetts in spring 2023, but she has been a passionate League member for over six years, including in Arlington, VA and Miami, FL. She currently works at GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders, a legal advocacy organization dedicated to protecting and advancing the rights of LGBTQ+ people and people living with HIV, as their Legal Research and Operations Manager. Prior to this role, Jess was the Senior Manager of Programs / Paralegal for the University of Miami School of Law Health Rights Clinic, a medical legal partnership with the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. In addition to her passions for voting rights and equity and justice at the intersection of health, identity, and law, Jess is also deeply interested in education. As Manager of High School Programs at Achieve Miami, an education non-profit organization that provides college readiness and service opportunities to students at Title I schools across South Florida, she implemented college readiness as well as civic engagement programming. She also previously worked as Organizer at the League of Women Voters United States where she helped ensure the success of nation-wide voter education and registration grant programs. She holds a BA in Politics from Bates College where she also studied philosophy and competed nationally as a member of the Bates Rowing team.
