Vote411.org Coming to Massachusetts

The League of Women Voters of Massachusetts will implement Vote411.org for the 2016 calendar vote411year. VOTE411.org Online Voters’ Guide, a customizable digital resource developed by the national League of Women Voters (LWVUS), will allow Massachusetts voters to access personalized ballot information – for statewide races, state legislative races, and U.S. Congressional races – simply by entering a street address. Voters will also be able to access in-depth information about candidates (including candidates’ responses to questions created by LWVMA) and ballot measures, an online voter registration tool, local and state voting requirements and rules, a polling place finder, and videos of candidate debates.

LWVMA will make this service available across the state for all national, legislative, and municipal races, at no cost to local Leagues, thanks to a generous gift from a Concord member.

In areas where we do not have a local League, this service will provide an important visibility opportunity for the League of Women Voters and offer a much needed service to all voters.  There will be many opportunities for local League and state League cooperation on this voter project.  Local League members can collaborate on questions for candidates and help “populate” the database with information about the candidates.  Vote411.org also includes a calendar of upcoming events, and the capability to show videos of candidate events, as available.

We will be able to begin populating the database with candidate information at the beginning of January.  We will be sharing more detailed plans for the implementation in the coming weeks, and look forward to working on this project together.  For more information, please contact Mary Ann Ashton, LWVMA Voter Service Chair, or Meryl Kessler, LWVMA Executive Director.
