A new LWVMA video on campaign finance rules for candidates, particularly for local offices, is coming soon!  Watch for a notice that it’s available.

In the recording, Jason Tait, Director of Communications and Public Education for the Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political Finance, explains the rules for accepting campaign donations, the tools for reporting receipts and expenditures, and the missteps candidates should avoid.

Local Leagues can use this recording as part of a “how to run for office” program, can link to it on your website, and can ask the local cable station to post it.

This recording will be part of a new LWVMA “Run for Office” series, designed to encourage civic participation by informing the public about the right to run for office and providing information on the process.  We hope this series will be useful not only to people considering a run for office, but also members of the public learning about campaign finance law and civics, election officials, teachers and their students, and our local Leagues who champion civics education.
