January 2024 Scharfman Grants Awarded to Six Leagues

LWV Norwood: LWV Norwood received a grant to subsidize the cost to print laminated, weatherproof, reusable election date information sign boards to display in town. 

LWV Needham: LWV Needham received a grant for an archive project called “80 Years of Serving Needham: LWV Needham Archive Project.”   The archive serves as a record of the civic issues of concern to Needham residents over the past 80 years. By preserving newsletters, correspondence, flyers, and newspaper articles, LWV Needham and the Needham History Center will provide a resource to anyone who may be interested in perspectives on local and state issues discussed in units and forums; elections, ballot questions, candidates, and issues; studies completed by the LWV-Needham, resulting positions and advocacy. 

LWV Melrose:  LWV Melrose received a grant to register voters at an annual Melrose event, “The Victorian Fair”. 

LWV Worcester Area:  LWV Worcester received a grant to hire a research associate to do outreach within the Worcester community to determine which other organizations are working on voter engagement to help  map voter engagement efforts. 

LWV Hingham: LWV Hingham received a grant for an “I voted Today” step and repeat banner for the polling locations in town.  

LWV Falmouth: LWV Falmouth received a grant for a voter service event called “we the people.” The public event  will focus on a reading of the United States Constitution as it pertains to the right to vote.
